Lloyd William Miller



Lloyd William Miller, 93, of Rogue River, died Friday, February 1, 2008.



A funeral service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 230 Buysman Way, Grants Pass on Saturday, February 23 at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Steven Sparley officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull and Hull funeral directors is in charge of arrangements.



Lloyd was born September 19, 1914, on a homestead near Drady, N.D., to Gerald Burdge Miller and Inger (nee Ness) Miller. When he was 10 years old he moved with his family to Omak, Wash., where he graduated from high school. He later attended the University of Washington.



During World War II he worked as a tooling engineer for Lockheed and Ryan Aeronautical companies in California. On Valentine's Day, 1942, he married Margaret Amelia Sands of Los Angeles, who preceded him in death in 1994. In 1946 he moved to Grants Pass where he manufactured recreational archery equipment. In 1950 he returned to southern California and established his own metal fabrication business. He returned to southern Oregon in 1960 where he lived in the communities of Ashland, Talent, Merlin and Rogue River.



Lloyd was a lifelong Lutheran and a founding member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Grants Pass. He is survived by four daughters, Nelda Glasheen of Rogue River, Inga Baitis of Missoula, Mont., Dr. Christine Miller of Portola Valley, Calif. and Yvonne Miller Stokely of Santa Barbara, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
