A local student's commercial didn't make the cut at this year's Academy Awards ceremony, but the budding filmmaker still plans to attend the Oscar after-event parties and mingle with the rich and famous.

Lisa Bolden, 22, a Southern Oregon University student majoring in video production, was one of five semifinalists in the Dove's Supreme Cream Oil Body Wash ad contest. When contacted by the Mail Tribune before the show, Bolden was still hopeful her 30-second spot, selected out of more than 3,000 entries, had a shot at coveted commercial time on the Oscar special.

"I'm pretty excited. I think it's about to get really busy," she said as she headed up the "Oscar room."

But Bolden's ad — titled "Victory" — was not one of the two final videos introduced by television star Amy Brennerman during a commercial break in Sunday's telecast.
