Stuart Lloyd Jenckes

A gathering to honor the life of Stuart Jenckes will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 26th at the First Congregational Church at 717 Siskiyou Avenue in Ashland.

Stuart, a resident of Ashland for the last ten years, died suddenly at home of natural causes on Thursday, February 21, 2008.

Stuart lived life in a big way. He will be remembered for his caring spirit, generosity, wisdom, wit, and deep love of life. He was a connoisseur of living, and a great thinker. He loved talking, reading, and wondering about the world. He was a sensitive listener, and people readily opened up to him. He got to the heart of things.

He found in Ashland many wonderful friendships, and joy in fishing, being in the wilderness, cooking, poker, and helping others.

He was born in Reading, Pa. on February 3, 1976. He grew up in Pleasant Hill, Calif. where he graduated from Prospect High School in 1993. He moved to Eugene in 1994, and earned an AA degree in Culinary Arts from Lane College in 1998. He then moved to Ashland and graduated from SOU with a B.S. in Sociology in 2004.

Stuart is survived by his parents; Tom and Rosemary Jenckes, his sister; Kate, and many, many loving relatives and friends.

Food or cash contributions may be made to the Ashland Emergency Food Bank, P.O. Box 3578, Ashland, OR 97520, or dropped off at the First Congregational Church.
