Today is March 20 and that's allegedly the first day of spring, although we're having a little trouble seeing it from our perch in the Land of Eternal Drizzle.

To perk things up a little, we'd like to post your photographic proof a new season is upon us, and we're willing to put up a little prize money (and we do mean a little) to get it.

Here's how our spring photo contest works: We'll collect readers' photos showing signs of the new season through Wednesday, March 26, when we'll name the photos we think best depict spring in the Rogue Valley. The winner will receive a $30 gift card from the Grange Co-op; the runner-up will get $20.

We have just a few rules: The photographer or a parent must submit the photo. The photo must have been taken in 2008 in the Rogue Valley. Photo submissions must be in jpeg formats and must be accompanied by an e-mail address and a daytime phone number (we won't publish that).

Here's where to send your photos; let's bring on spring.
