A man on the lam for more than a year after he helped rob a north Medford tavern at gunpoint pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree robbery.

Grayson Scott Lindenfelser, 21, was sentenced to nearly six years in prison by Jackson County Circuit Judge Ray White for robbing Lumpy's Tavern on Dec. 13, 2006, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Allan Smith. Second-degree robbery is a Measure 11 crime.

Lindenfelser was facing three counts of first-degree robbery, four counts of second-degree kidnapping, a single count of first-degree theft, four counts of unlawful use of a weapon, four counts of menacing and two counts of criminal mistreatment.

The single guilty plea earned Lindenfelser a mandatory 70-month prison sentence and three years of post-prison supervision, said Smith.

Smith said he was pleased with the sentence and hoped Lindenfelser would "turn his life around" while in prison.

Lindenfelser was one of two masked men who on Dec. 13, 2006, robbed Lumpy's Tavern, forcing four people into the bathroom of the bar at 2718 N. Pacific Highway. Police issued a felony warrant for his arrest.

Police in Union City discovered Lindenfelser as a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Nov. 30, according to the Medford Police Department. Lindenfelser initially gave Union City police an alias, but his identity was discovered and police found the kidnapping and robbery warrant, leading to his arrest.

Smith said one of the victims, a clerk on duty at the time of the robbery, was present at the sentencing and expressed relief that Lindenfelser would be behind bars.

Lindenfelser's alleged accomplice, 30-year-old David Edward Spradley, was arrested within a week of the robbery while already behind bars in Josephine County. Spradley remains in an Oregon prison where he is serving a sentence for other crimes in other counties.
