U.S. Navy Hospitalman Michael D. Yost has been selected as Naval Operation Support Center, Eugene Reserve Blue Jacket of the Year for 2007.

U.S. Navy Hospitalman Michael D. Yost has been selected as Naval Operation Support Center, Eugene Reserve Blue Jacket of the Year for 2007.

Yost's selection was based on outstanding professional competence, positive attitude and community involvement. Additionally, Yost has been promoted to Petty Officer, Third Class.

Yost attended Field Medical Service School at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and served in Iraq with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit during 2006-2007.

He is a 2004 graduate of North Medford High School and currently attends Rogue Community College.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Autumn L. Adams, daughter of Cynthia L. Powell of Medford, and Kenneth G. Adams of Leander, Texas, recently participated in a training assessment off the coast of Southern California while assigned to amphibious assault ship USS Boxer, homeported in San Diego.

Adams' ship completed its Unit Level Training Assessment — Certification (ULTRA-C) which helped determine the abilities of various shipboard teams to respond to emergency situations.

The USS Boxer is an amphibious assault ship. It is deployed to embark, deploy and land a Marine landing force by helicopter, landing craft air cushion or amphibious assault vehicle.
