LaVonne Lois Rucker

LaVonne Lois Rucker, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we will never part, God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts.

LaVonne L. Rucker, 72, went home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2008. She was born August 10, 1935 in Ipswich, S.D., the youngest daughter of four, to Clarence and Leona Jones, who have preceded her in death.

Soon after high school graduation, she moved to Oregon and met and married Clifford Rucker while he was in the United States Air Force. LaVonne helped manage their State Farm Insurance Agency in Grants Pass for 29 years and upon retirement, they traveled the country in their motorhome, enjoying our gorgeous nation.

Her 30-year battle with her lung disease was ongoing, yet, she never allowed it to slow her down, but only for a short time, and then, on with her life.

Her love of the Lord Jesus Christ was primary in her life, and the last few years, her mission was to tell everyone that she was going to heaven, not because she earned it, but because God loved her, and everyone, so much that he sent his Son to die on the cross to pay for our sins...and raising Him on the third day. She lived longer than the medical profession believed was possible, but she believed it was because she had a mission to fulfill.

Those who loved her and will miss her are her husband, Clifford; sons, Steven Rucker and Dan Rucker; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Tom Fuller, and Jeannie and Monte Williams; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Grace Bible Church, 1555 N.E. 10th Street, Grants Pass, Ore. at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice-Special Needs Fund, 2960 Doctors Park Drive, Medford, Oregon 97504 in memory of LaVonne.
