Student artists from Ashland High School and their parents plan to take their gripes about a disputed mural public this morning in a rally in front of the school district office.

The rally begins at 11:20 a.m. at the office at 885 Siskiyou Blvd.

The group is protesting school Principal Jeff Schlecht's decision to remove a panel of a mural painted by students and mounted in the school's quad. It depicted Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam" in a Harry Potter theme, and Schlecht determined Adam showed too much skin.

He said a school district policy prohibits excessive bareness, but students considered the action censorship.
