David Charles Gettling

1951 - 2008



David Gettling passed away on March 31, 2008, of a brain aneurysm in Portland, Ore. He will fondly be remembered as a funny techie and a person of generosity and helpfulness.



David was born March 9, 1951, to Charles and Edith Gettling in Ashland, Ore. Upon graduation in 1973, David began his teaching career in Forest Grove, Ore. In 1976, he began a long, extraordinary career with the Beaverton School District.



After retiring, David mentored beginning teachers at Pacific Lutheran and taught computer classes at Lewis and Clark College.



David is survived by his wife, Jan; and children, Erin and Neal. He leaves behind a wide circle of family and friends, including his father, Charles and wife, Bev. In 1981, David lost his mother, Edith Gettling, with whom he was extremely close.

A celebration of life was held on April 19, 2008, at Westview High School, in Beaverton.
