Gale Clifford Gurr



Memorial services for Gale Gurr, 37, of Medford, will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain

Christian Fellowship. Private interment will take place at

Hillcrest Memorial Park. Gale died Thursday, April 24, 2008 in the John's Peak area, following an accident.



He was born in 1970 to Gene and Barbara Gurr in Pasadena, Calif. Gale was a 1989 graduate of Upland High School, Calif. He was a 1994 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Business from California State University, San Bernardino, Calif.



In 1994 he married Melissa Menold, who survives. The couple moved to Oregon in 1995, where Gale was hired with the Phoenix Fire Department in 1996. He received his EMT/Paramedic certification in 1998 and he began working for the Medford Fire Department in 1998. Gale was promoted to

Engineer in 2004.



Gale was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church.



Survivors, in addition to his wife, Melissa Gurr; two

daughters, Lindsey and Ashley Gurr; his stepmother, Laraine Gurr of Upland, Calif.; grandmother, Lois Hodgins of Upland, Calif.; his father and mother-in-law, Ted and Melanie Menold of Ashland, Ore.; brother and sister-in-law, Lance and Krista Menold; niece, Jillian Menold; and newborn nephew, Ryan Gale Menold, all of Medford. Gale is also survived by a very large and extended family.



Gale was a loving husband and father who spent time with his girls, playing sports, bike riding, swimming and

barbecuing. He completely enjoyed hanging out with his friends and was known for his incredibly funny sense of

humor. He was always willing to help others and was known to be one of the first to volunteer his help.



Gale truly loved the Fire Department and his fellow

Firefighters in the Rogue Valley.



Melissa would like to give her heartfelt thanks to all those who assisted in the rescue efforts. The love and support from family, friends, the Fire Department, and the community has been comforting and reassuring at such a difficult time. Gale was deeply loved by his family and will be forever in our hearts.
