Walter Franklin Martin



Walter Franklin Martin, 90, of Medford, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Hearthstone Rehabilitation Center. No service is planned.



He was born October 13, 1917, on West Evans Creek to Walter and Nora Martin, and lived in Oregon all his life. On November 21, 1942, he married Marjorie Ferns in Ogden, Utah.



Mr. Martin became a journeyman carpenter in 1948, and followed that trade for over thirty years. He worked on many large projects in the valley including the Lost Creek and Applegate Dams, the fish hatchery and many freeway bridges.



He served in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Martin enjoyed fishing, hunting and motorcycle riding.



Survivors, in addition to his wife, include sons, Russell and Larry Martin; daughter, Vicki Lynn Cuozzo; four granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Audra Smith.



He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Erickson; and sister, Hazel Bidwell.
