Muriel "Joyce" Carlile Thomas, 89, of Medford, Ore., passed peacefully on May 14, 2008 after a long illness. Born in Jamestown, Kans., in 1918, she grew up and attended school surrounded by family and friends in the small farming community.



After graduating from high school she moved to southern California to stay with an older sister in Van Nuys, as she worked and attended school. There she met and married Ernest Thomas, her husband of 57 years. During their life together in California, they lived in the Los Angeles area, Fallbrook, Escondido, Valley Center, and Lakeport.



Surviving family includes, two daughters, Alberta Cramer (Mel) of Lexington, Ky., and Carol Billovits (Frank) of Eagle Point; two sons, Curtis Thomas (Charlcie) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Glen Thomas (Anita) of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Bob Gordon (Maryalice); and nieces, Betty Jean Carlile Mage of Vancouver, Wash., and Pat Carlile Dalrymple of Temple, Texas.



Active in church her whole life, she was a loving mother, wife, and friend to many. She will be dearly missed but she is at last in eternal peace with her Lord and Savior.



Private family service. Internment at Oak Hill Memorial Cemetery, Escondido, Calif. If desired, donations may be made in her name to a favorite charity.
