Police this morning arrested a 27-year-old woman who lives nearby for damage to a north Medford neighborhood from extensive graffiti 10 days ago.

Medford police Lt. Tim Doney said the woman is a resident of the Hayes Avenue neighborhood where the graffiti was found.

"Initially we received a tip, and she turned herself in this morning," he said.

Residents on Hayes Avenue, a secluded north Medford neighborhood, awoke May 11 to thousands of dollars worth of damage on several properties, including a house and cedar fences. Profanity, names, numbers and pictures, in black, blue, yellow, pink and purple, covered surfaces on the quiet street.

Doney said the woman is being lodged in Jackson County jail on two counts of first-degree criminal mischief.

Police say they will release more information this afternoon.
