Dan Ross took a commanding lead tonight in his bid to keep the county assessor's job.

Early results gave Ross 20,792 votes (58.46 percent) to challenger Roy Wright's 14,704 (41.34 percent).

"I'm am looking forward to another term as the assessor," Ross said. "I still have things I want to accomplish after serving these past several years."

Wright, who operates Roy Wright Appraisal Service Inc. of Medford, waged an aggressive campaign, criticizing Ross' management style and his backlog of reappraisals.
