An Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife investigation has resulted in a Sunny Valley man being cited for unlawful possession of a black bear cub.

Officials say it is a Class A misdemeanor charge.

Gabriel Maranov is facing up to one year in jail or a $6,250 fine.

Fish and Wildlife told KAJO/KLDR radio in Grants Pass that the cub will spend the rest of its life in captivity at Wildlife Safari in Winston. This, because the 26-year-old removed it from the wild and attempted to raise it.
