An updated count of ballots cast in Tuesday's primary election has moved a new candidate into second place in the five-way race for the county clerk's seat, but only barely.

Colleen Roberts now leads Cheryl Avgeris 7,560 votes to 7,533, a difference of 27 ballots.

Both significantly trail Chris Walker, appointed this year to be county clerk. Her tally was 20,143 votes in unofficial results released this afternoon.
