Donald L. Rist



The memorial service for Donald Lee Rist will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ashland. Mr. Rist, 70, of Talent, Ore., died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the Ashland Community Hospital.



Donald was born October 5, 1937 in Humbolt, Nebr., the son of Jesse and Lillian Rist. He was raised in Dawson, Nebr., and moved to Ashland, Ore., in the early 60's. In 1963 he married the former Judy Anderson, who survives.



Mr. Rist worked in the Medco Mill for a short time and as a brakeman for the Southern Pacific Railroad for seven years before beginning a lifelong career in Real Estate.



As a realtor, he was a certified Residential Specialist, was twice designated as Realtor of the Year, and was honored with the Realtor Image Award. He was a member of the

Oregon Association of Realtors.



Don was active in the community and political affairs. He served as chairman for the Southern Oregon Multiple

Sclerosis Foundation Walk-a-thon. During the Ashland 4th of July parade he served as judge for several years.



He was a member of the Ashland Elks Lodge and Grace

Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with family.



Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Rene Whyte and her husband, Greg of Talent, Ore., and Shannon Rist of Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Richard and Martin Riley both of Humbolt, Nebr.; two grandsons, Sam and Spencer Whyte.



He was preceded in death by a son, David.
