Richard Dale Chapman

Military Honors for Richard D. Chapman, 76, of Medford Ore., will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 27th at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Richard was born outside of Curtin, Ore., the son of Frank S. Chapman and Helen A. (Fulton) Chapman. He was raised in the Cottage Grove area. He graduated from Cottage Grove High School and then attended the University of Oregon. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He has lived in Medford since the early 1950s.



Although a private person, he had a huge heart for family and friends. His next love was his occupation. He had been a truck driver more than 30 years and was closing in on his three million mile mark. His last run was in February of this year and he was trying to figure out a way to make that next run even if was in the passenger seat with his son, Steve, or niece, Lynn! He loved people, reading, the outdoors and telling stories from his trips on the road. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2093 and when in town, he enjoyed spending time with his many friends there.



He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Chapman and sister, Eunice Roberts. Richard is survived by his son, Stephen Chapman of Medford, Ore; daughters, Connie Chapman of Coos Bay, Ore., and Wanda Nuttall of Willits, Calif.; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and brother, Ray Chapman of Colorado Springs, Colo.
