Matt Turpin has joined the physical therapy staff at Medford Sports Injury & Therapy Center on Barnett Road.

Turpin was born and raised in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah, earning a bachelor's degree in exercise and sport science in 2002. After graduation, Turpin worked as a physical therapy aide for a year and a half with Hand and Orthopedic Rehabilitation in Salt Lake City. He entered Utah's initial physical therapy doctoral program in 2005, focused his internships on outpatient orthopedics and graduated this year.



White City contractor Rob Hernandez has been appointed to the Oregon Construction Contractors Board. Hernandez, appointed by Gov. Ted Kulongoski, will serve as a representative from the large commercial industry.

Hernandez has been involved in the Columbia Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America for the past eight years. In 1995, Hernandez purchased minority ownership in S & B James Construction Co., where he began his construction career. Eventually he and his partner, Tom Hall, purchased the business, and later formed the S & B James Construction Management Co.

Hernandez lives in Central Point and serves on the Crater Foundation board. He also serves on the Construction Technology Advisory Committee at Rogue Community College and the Jackson County Urban Renewal Advisory Committee.

Steve Weber has joined ACCESS Inc. as its chief financial officer. Weber has worked in public accounting for more than 15 years, specializing in the areas of nonprofit accounting and auditing. Most recently, he was the internal auditor for Pacific Retirement Services. Weber holds a degree in accounting from Southern Oregon University, and has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants since April 2004.

Weber has lived in the Medford area since 1993 and is a board member for Dogs for the Deaf.

Stephanie Hirche has joined the Medford office of Strand, Atkinson, Williams & York as a financial adviser. She will have an office at the firm on Barnett Road in Medford and will also be available at all eight Umpqua Bank locations in Jackson County.

Hirche was previously a financial adviser with Citi Smith Barney, dealing with wealth management, insurance, retirement and investment areas. She has 10 years' experience in the banking, insurance and financial industries. She earned a bachelor's degree in business with a minor in German from Southern Oregon University. She is a board member for the Central Point Chamber.

Wells Fargo recently honored Paul Bloom, a private banker at its Ashland office, during the National Sales and Service Conference in Orlando, Fla. He was among the 32 community banking standouts from Oregon and southwest Washington, based on their superior sales or service in 2007.
