Jerome Patrick Haas



Jerome Patrick Haas passed away at the age of 89, on May 27, 2008, at Providence Medical Center. A native of the Rogue Valley, he was born on July 21, 1918, to Hellen Pitzenberger and Charles Haas. Mr. Haas grew up in the Rogue Valley and attended Jackson County Schools. He graduated from St. Mary's High School.



Jerome married his wife, Leatha F. Landing, of Ashland, Ore., on January 1, 1938, at the Congregational Church in Ashland, where they were married for 48 years, before the passing of his wife.



He is survived by his son, Gary Haas, of Sam's Valley, Ore.; grandson, Patrick Haas, of Central Point.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hellen Haas; wife, Leatha Haas; an infant son; granddaughter, Theresa Haas; five brothers; four sisters; a half brother; and a daughter-in-law, Jeannie Haas.



Jerome served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was honorably discharged on February 17, 1946. After returning from the Navy, Jerome worked locally. He and his partners owned a local saw mill off Dead Indian Memorial Road where they logged. Jerome owned his own trucking firm in the late 60's, and he later became a Mechanic for M.C. Liniger & Sons, where he retired in 1980.



Jerome enjoyed yard work, farming, repairing his farm equipment, fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors. He also enjoyed going to the Oregon Coast.



Arrangements are entrusted to Perl Funeral Home, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford, Ore. There will be a viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on June 4, 2008.



A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at The Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 517 W. 10th St., Medford.



In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Oregon, and Providence Hospices.
