Artwork, live music, street performers and more artwork, along with a gala to celebrate Saturday's The Taste of History Wine Walk and Historical Tour at the Rogue Gallery, will be showcased during the Third Friday art walk to be held from 5 to 8 p.m., June 20, in downtown Medford.

Artwork, live music, street performers and more artwork, along with a gala to celebrate Saturday's The Taste of History Wine Walk and Historical Tour at the Rogue Gallery, will be showcased during the Third Friday art walk to be held from 5 to 8 p.m., June 20, in downtown Medford.

The gala reception to kick off The Taste of History will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rogue Gallery & Art Center, 40 S. Bartlett St.

An original painting by Karen Cain-Smith that was used for Taste of History's event poster, along with historical photographs of downtown Medford, will be displayed at the gallery, and copies of the poster will be available.

There will be a silent auction for an enlarged, framed event poster, plus live music by Jon Galfano, appetizers from Elements Tapas Bar and wines from RoxyAnn Winery.

"The Landscape Reconstructed," an exhibit of abstract landscapes and mixed-media works by Ashland artist Jerry Simon, will be displayed in the main gallery, and an open mic poetry session sponsored by the Oregon State Poetry Association will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the gallery's garden on Theater Alley.

The Rogue Gallery also is the home of Studio Sfumato, an enterprise of Living Opportunities in Medford that includes more than a dozen handicapped artists who express ideas through visual arts.

Sfumato members will be on hand in the classroom at the Rogue Gallery, and Whatness, a duo featuring Ed Rogers and Matt Anlas, will present acoustic music. See roguegallery.org or call 772-8118.

Medford artist Shari O'Neal will present "Downunder: Downtown" — a collection of new work that features watercolor and collage landscapes inspired by her trips to Australia and New Zealand in 2007 — at Art du Jour Gallery, 320 Middleford Alley.

O'Neal is a member of Art du Jour and the Medford Arts Commission. She will be on hand at the gallery to discuss her work during the art walk.

A themed exhibit by gallery members, "Fish, Fowl and Four-Legged Friends," also will be presented. The exhibiting artists include Garland Arnaud, Betty Bangs, Jillian Crider, Richard Cronberg, Pam Edwards, Jennifer Eufusia, Margo Garnett, Edna Hanscom, Ruth Heath, Judy Huber, Marianne Kauffman, Norma Kibbey, Yvonne Kitchen, Ginny Matheson, Vicky McGee, Carol Eaton Preston, Ruth Hickock Schubert, Carol Sharp, Dick Woods and O'Neal.

Ben Truwe will present his collection of vintage films that highlight Oregon's history from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yesterday's Blossoms, and jugglers and fire breathers Jeff Behrends, Ingrid Edstrom, Myrth and Kai will perform their street arts outside the flower shop in Theater Alley.
