Alta Kesler Grimes



Alta Kesler Grimes, 88, of Talent, Ore., passed away June 18, 2008 at her home.



Alta was born January 13, 1920 in Wellington, Texas to Claude and Lois Kesler. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1937 and moved to San Diego, Calif., in 1941.



She married Donald Grimes in 1942 and they moved to Talent, Ore., in 1950. Alta received a B.A. degree from Southern Oregon State College in 1964. She taught elementary school for the Medford School District for 18 years. She retired in 1983.



Alta was a long time member of the United Methodist Church in Talent, serving as ministry director of music. Most recently she was a member of the Talent Bible Chapel.



She belonged to the retired teachers association of Oregon, the Phoenix Grange and the Talent Historical Society.



Hobbies included gardening, reading and cooking.



Survivors include two sons, David Grimes of Creswell, Ore., and Daniel Grimes of Lake Oswego, Ore.; and daughter, Susan McConnell of Carrollton, Texas; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.



Arrangements by Perl Funeral Home. A viewing will be held on June 25, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a service to follow from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Burial will take place the same day at 2 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
