David William Bird

David William Bird died in his home Wednesday in Scottsburg, Ore., of natural causes at age 71. He was born August 28, 1936 in Bellevue, Wash., graduated from Bellevue High School, then attended Whitman College on a football scholarship. He was an entrepreneur and 50% owner of Staffing for Success in Medford, Ore. Prior to that he'd owned and operated a janitorial supply business as well as being a corporate officer in the industrial field.



He is survived by his wife, Dellamae, his partner in business as well as life; his son, Phillip of Lake Oswego; daughters, Jennifer Souther of Bend and Laura Clutinger of Valley Center, Calif; stepchildren, Marshall Henkle of Federal Way, Wash., Deanna Henkle of Creswell, Ore.; sister, Sheila Ralston of Kirkland, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.



A memorial service will be held Monday, June 23, 2008 at 2 p.m., at the Covenant United Methodist Church in Redsport, to be followed by a special ceremony and reception at his home in Scottsburg at — p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Dunes Memorial Chapel, (541) 271-2882.
