After struggling through the first game with a slew of errors, Hayden Wolfe and Stephen Cole turned things around for the North Medford Mavericks on Saturday.

Wolfe pitched a three-hitter and Cole was a triple short of hitting for the cycle as the Mavericks split a twin bill with a 7-1 triumph over South Medford in the nightcap. The Colts won the first game 8-6 at North Medford High.

In the third inning of Game 2, Cole sparked the Mavericks with a run-scoring single and later scored on a Mark Cokenour double to put North Medford (11-3, 10-2 Area 4) up 2-0.

The Colts cut it to 2-1 in the top of the fifth, but it was Cole again who capped a four-run sixth with an RBI double.

Cole added a solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and finished 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs.

Wolfe, who improved to 3-0 pitching, allowed just one run in seven innings, issuing three walks while striking out seven.

In the opening contest, six errors doomed the Mavericks.

The Colts took advantage of a two-out error in the top of the fifth to score five straight runs.

After the miscue, the Colts loaded the bases twice, and Issac Rolie and Sam McLaughlin each had two-run singles as the Colts went up 8-1.

Rolie and Kyle Seutter each went 2-for-4 and scored twice, while Allen Fitzsimmons went 2-for-3 and added an RBI single in the second.

Wolfe went 2-for-4 and scored a run.
