Tickets are on sale for the Great Rubber Ducky Race, an event to help keep the SOU Pool open to the community.

Hosted by the Aquatics Foundation of Southern Oregon (AFSO), the event will feature 3,000 rubber ducks. Each duck will wear a number, sold as a raffle ticket. The duckys will be released to race down the rapids of Ashland Creek on July 12 at 10 a.m. The event will be staged from the bridge behind the Lithia Park Bandshell, with the finish line at the children's pool near the Lithia Park playground.

Raffle ticket holders need not be present to win.

Prizes will be offered to the first 35 duckys to cross the finish line. Grand Prize is $1,000, thanks to a donation from Southern Oregon Subaru. Other prizes include raft trips, a digital camera, a pair of salmon fishing rods and reels, theater tickets, and a two-night stay in Napa Valley.

Duck adoption tickets can be purchased at Pro Wireless in Ashland, Norris Shoes in Medford, Segway of Jacksonville, Bottom Time Scuba in Talent, R&R Pet Resort in Phoenix and AFSO's 4th of July booth in Lithia Park.
