Lorraine was born October 11, 1930 in Wildrose, N.D. She passed away June 21, 2008 with her loving children surrounding her.
Lorraine graduated from Divide County High School in Crosby, N.D., in 1949 and married Elmer Minne on October 14, 1949. Elmer passed away in 2004.
While living in North Dakota, Lorraine and Elmer had four children. In 1956, they moved to Oregon City, where she enjoyed working in the cafeteria where her children attended school and she could keep an eye on them. In 1963, the Minne family moved to Medford, Ore., and their youngest child was born. Lorraine again found working in the school cafeterias as a way to stay connected to her kids and their teachers. When the children were older, she helped Elmer with his Mail Tribune motor route and when he retired she took over completely. In later years they both enjoyed travels within the United States, but their favorite place to visit was North Dakota to see family and their many friends. She was the Mom everyone counted on for rides to baseball practice and band practice and always had chocolate chip cookies on hand to share. No one was a stranger to Lorraine and there are many who adopted her as a mom or grandma. She was a very special lady to everyone who knew her and her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter adored her and her sons-in-law were her biggest fans.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Marie (Jim) McEnry of Vancouver, Wash., Adrian of Juneau, Alaska, David, Kim and Jody (Jeff) Smith of Medford, Ore.; grandchildren, Aron and Adam Dyche and Meredith and Julian Minne; great-granddaughter, Tatum Cavener-Dyche; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Friday, June 27, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Ascension Lutheran Church in Medford with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Asante Hospice or Ascension Lutheran Church.
