Jackson County sheriff's deputies on Wednesday rescued a woman who was allegedly kidnapped by her ex-husband and held captive at a campsite in the Hyatt Lake area.

White City resident Michelle Irene Davis' fiance called police just before noon Wednesday and reported he had received a text message stating that she had been abducted by her ex-husband, Michael Wayne Kyle, 57, and wasn't injured "much".

Davis, 33, had a stalking protective order against Kyle.

Deputies tracked down the general area where Kyle was near Hyatt Lake and were contacted by a ranger who had spotted the suspects' vehicle based on a description the sheriff's office had broadcast. Deputies located the campsite and found Davis unharmed.

Kyle was arrested on charges of second-degree kidnapping and lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $1 million bail.

Anyone with information about the kidnapping is asked to call the sheriff's office at 541-774-6800.
