The Pulling Together Initiative, a community weed-pulling event, is set from 9 to 11 a.m. at locations from Ashland to Gold HIll. The free barbecue lunch and music follow at Hawthorne Park in Medford.

The effort will help clear up weeds and will teach volunteers which weeds are menacing and how to keep them from taking over.

— Ashland: North Mountain Park, 620 Mountain Ave.

— Central Point: Bear Creek Greenway. Meet in parking lot across from the Pilot Station.
