Robert L. Ettinger

May 2, 1918 -July 22, 2008

Robert L. Ettinger was born May 2nd, 1918 in Mill City, Oregon to Lester & Marjorie Ettinger. Marjorie passed when he was — and he was raised by Lester & Marie Ettinger. Robert passed away at home on July 22, 2008, at the age of 90.

He married Nellie Baize on June 28, 1947. She preceded him in death in 1988. Robert was a journeyman electrician and repair technician for Trowbridge Electric and Larson's Appliances in Medford, Oregon. He was a graduate of Medford High and attended college at Oregon State and Sacramento Junior College. Robert loved hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a Navy Pilot, achieving the rank of Lt. Commander in WWII, flying a PBY & B24 in the South Pacific. He received a Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 Gold Stars, Air Medal - 5 Gold Stars, American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic - Pacific Theatre Ribbon - 2 Bronze Stars, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon - — Bronze Star.

Robert is survived by a son, Steven R. Ettinger and wife Kathy of Medford, Ore. and a daughter, Barbara Owen and husband Fred of Gold Hill, Ore., 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond of San Diego, Calif. At his request, there will be a private family graveside service officiated by Russ Baize, brother-in-law.
