Douglas and Barbara McKee of Phoenix celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary June 28 with an open house at Bear Lake Estates.

Douglas and Barbara McKee of Phoenix celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary June 28 with an open house at Bear Lake Estates.

Hosts of the event, with more than 100 people attending, were their children, Marie Tiger of Phoenix, Doug McKee Jr., of Medford, Julie Thomas of Central Point, and Dennis McKee of Medford.

Douglas McKee married Barbara Maddox on May 15, 1948, in Medford.

Both were born and raised in the Medford area. Barbara graduated from St. Joseph Nursing School in Vancouver, Wash., and worked as a registered nurse in the old Sacred Heart Hospital in Medford and at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Doug joined the Navy prior to graduating from Medford High School and served in the Korean War and World War II. After serving in the military, he became a carpenter and started his own construction business. He is currently drafting house plans for homeowners and builders.

In addition to their children, they have six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
