James L. Berlandi

James L. Berlandi, 62, of Anacortes, Wash., passed away on Aug. 25, 2008.

Jim was born to Ed and Lauraine Berlandi in Roseburg, Ore., on July 1, 1946. Jim graduated from Roseburg High School and attended Umpqua Community College. In 1963 he joined the U.S. Navy and advanced to the rank of Electricians Mate.

On Feb. 14, 1970, he married Karen L. Kaufman in Portland, Ore. They lived in numerous areas, locating in Medford, Ore., in 1978. Jim was in auto sales for 40 years. In Medford he worked for Lithia Motors and owned his own dealership. In 1996 they relocated to Portland, Ore., then to Spokane in 1999. In 2003, they moved to Anacortes, Wash. Jim worked for Jerry Smith Chevrolet and Marysville Ford prior to his retirement in 2008.

Jim's hobbies included golf, card games and sports.

Jim is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Todd (and wife, Kelly), Justin, Ryan, and Sarah; his brothers, Frank and Steve; and his grandchildren, Maegan, Sarina, and Brandon. His parents and his sister preceded Jim in death.

Graveside services will be held Friday, August 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes, Wash. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Lung Cancer Research.
