Medford police are suggesting residents in an east Medford neighborhood take extra care outside after an officer spotted two cougars in the area late Thursday.

Residents near Cherry Lane and Stanford Avenue called police at about 10:30 p.m. to report they'd seen a cougar, police supervisor Derek Parks said in a news release this morning.

Officers later found the animals roaming surrounding neighborhoods and last saw them several blocks away, at Mariposa Terrace and Hillcrest Road.
