Joe and Millie Vargas of Eagle Point celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 27 with a dinner at the Elks Picnic Grounds in Eagle Point.

Joe and Millie Vargas of Eagle Point celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 27 with a dinner at the Elks Picnic Grounds in Eagle Point.

Hosts of the event, with approximately 100 people attending, were their sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Brandie Vargas, Mark and Kerry Vargas, Dean and Vicki Vargas and Jim and Pam Vargas, all of the Rogue Valley.

Joe Vargas married Millie Medina on July 27, 1958, in Mountain View, Calif.

Joe and Millie moved their family from Morgan Hill, Calif., to Eagle Point in 1976. Joe briefly drove a log truck for Bob Kimmel Trucking and then purchased his own log truck shortly thereafter.

Joe continues to work and owns and operates a self-loader log truck.

Millie owned and operated Mimi's restaurant in Eagle Point during the early 1980s.

In addition to their children, Joe and Millie have 10 grandchildren.
