Samuel Blumer Jr.

There was a graveside service for former Gold Hill, Ore., resident, Samuel Blumer, in Fullerton, Calif., on Sept. 15, 2008, at Loma Vista Memorial Park.

Samuel, 94, passed away on Sept. 10, 2008, at his home. Born to Samuel and Lena Nell Blumer on Aug. 13, 1914, he graduated high school in Porterville, and went into the U.S. Navy.

He moved to Gold Hill in 1992, and married Betty Lou in Reno, Nev., on Oct. 30, 1992. He spent most of his adult life in the profession of electrician, where he was certified. He worked for the Long Beach Ship Yard, finally retiring from there after 20 years of loyal employment. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening. Samuel was a member of both the VFW in Crescent City, Calif., and the Gold Hill Grange.

Saumel is survived by his wife, Betty Lou; son, Harry Jett; daughter, Myra Rogers; sister, Clara Johnson; niece, Peggy; nephews, Frank and John; seven grand-children; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Alice; sister, Helen Kelsey; and nephew, Skip Kelsey.
