The event, the last of six in the Northwest Division competition, features more than 400 drivers in eight categories including Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street.

The division's Auto Max USA Top Sportsman Series, Top Dragster Series and Sportsman Motorcycle Series will also run in conjunction with the event.

In the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships and a chance to share a year-end purse of more than $560,000. Competitors will vie for cash and contingency awards of $213,250 this weekend.

Two drivers, Brian Hough of Junction City and Sean O'Bannon of Ontario, Calif., are tied with 278 points in the Top Alcohol Funny Car division. Hough won at Champion Raceway last year.

Shawn Cowie of Delta, B.C., is the Top Alcohol Dragster points leader. Thomas Bayer of Fontana, Calif., the Northwest Division champion in that category, won at the event last season after avoiding a semifinal upset by Medford's Mike Austin.

Only two points separate the top three drivers in Super Comp.

Qualifying and time trials begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and gates open at 9 a.m. on Saturday with final qualifying and trials also at 10:30 a.m. Eliminations begin at noon on Saturday and Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car first-round eliminations begin at 1 p.m.
