Donald Duane Silver

Donald passed on Sept. 21, 2008 in Birmingham, Alabama. Cremation has been held. He was born to Leland and Juanita Silver, in Ashland, Ore., on May 25, 1943. He attended Ashland schools, and graduated in 1962. He enlisted in the Marine Corps right after graduation. On Sept. 19, 1964, he married Carol Hudson. After leaving the Marines he became a helicopter mechanic. He worked all over the United States and in two foreign countries. He even worked on the large 'Russian' helicopters in the 1984 movie "Red Dawn". He is survived by his wife, Carol; and sons, Donald Ray, of Westport, Wash., and Carl, of Eugene, Ore.; and two grandsons, of Westport, Wash. He is also survived by sisters, Catherine Ellis, of Ashland, Ore., and Juanita Daily of Sublimity, Ore.; brothers, Leland Silver, of Lebanon, Ore., Harold, of Medford, Ore., and Ted, of Salem, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Clifford. A memorial service will be held in Springfield, Ore., at noon on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008.
