EUGENE — Michael Frei and Eric Watters each recorded hat tricks as the Eugene Generals trounced the Rogue Valley Wranglers 10-1 in the NORPAC season opener for both teams on Friday night.

EUGENE — Michael Frei and Eric Watters each recorded hat tricks as the Eugene Generals trounced the Rogue Valley Wranglers 10-1 in the NORPAC season opener for both teams on Friday night.

Frei scored twice in the game's first five minutes, the second one coming short-handed, as Eugene led 2-0 after one period. His third goal came just 47 seconds into the second period, helping the Generals to a 6-0 lead after two periods.

Jonathan Isbell, Neil Holder, Carl Lehtola and Ryan McDonald (short-handed) also scored for Eugene.

Abera Abeal had the Wranglers' lone goal, coming 2:56 into the third period with the team trailing 7-0.

Goalie Nick Cafrelli made 33 saves in two periods for the Wranglers before Jerod Secondo allowed four goals on 20 shots in the final 20 minutes.

Eugene had a 59-20 shot advantage.

The two teams meet again tonight at 7:35 p.m. Rogue Valley will play it's home opener next Friday against the Tri-City Titans at The RRRink in Medford.
