MERLIN — Host Hidden Valley won its third tournament this season in as many tries after derailing Eagle Point, 25-19, 25-13, in the championship match.

The Mustangs (16-1) placed three key contributors to the all-tournament team: Bailey Bars, Lacy Wood and Ashley Doig.

Bars, a freshman right-outside hitter, accumulated 13 kills, 10 aces and five blocks combined in pool play and two bracket matches.

Wood racked up 17 kills and 10 aces and Doig, a senior setter, paced the Mustangs with 29 assists.

Senior middle hitter Haley Fikso had team-highs of 25 kills, 10 blocks and 10 aces for Hidden Valley, which won all 10 of its games.

The Mustangs also defeated Willamette in the semifinals, 25-11, 25-22.

SANTIAM CHRISTIAN TOURNAMENT — At Corvallis, Cascade Christian reached the quarterfinals before being swept by Burns, the two-time defending Class 3A state champion, 25-19, 25-12.

The Challengers split with Willamina and Santiam Christian and swept St. Mary's in pool play.

St. Mary's was swept in all three of its matches, losing to Valley Catholic, Portland Christian and Cascade Christian.

Burns eventually won the tournament with a 26-24, 25-17 victory over the host Santiam Christian.

BUTTE FALLS 3, TRIAD 1 — At Klamath Falls, senior Samantha Taylor had six kills and Beth Sutfin and Mariah Moore each added five to lead Butte Falls to the Mountain Valley League win, 25-13, 25-9, 24-26, 25-13.

Moore, a freshman, added seven aces and the sophomore Sutfin was 14-for-14 from the service line with three aces.

Junior Annie Ferguson had nine assists and junior Cheyenna Kirkpatrick added seven assists for the Loggers (2-4, 1-4 MVL). Senior Darby Burg served 12 straight points to open Game 2 and notched five of her seven aces in the frame, finishing 21-for-22 from the line.

SUTTER UNION 49, NORTH VALLEY 14 — At Eugene, Ryan Anderson passed for a pair of touchdowns in a losing cause for North Valley in nonconference action at Autzen Stadium.

Dane Anderson and Cody Austin each hauled in TD passes for the Knights (4-1) but Northern California-based Sutter Union (4-1) proved too much in the Oregon-California Challenge.

Sutter Union used a stretch of 28 straight points spanning the second and third quarters to pull away.
