Raymond G. Ekdahl

Raymond Ekdahl, of Central Point, Ore., passed away Friday, Oct. 17, 2008.

A graveside service will be at the Veterans Cemetery, Eagle Point, Ore., at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, and will be followed by a memorial service at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 745 N 10th, Central Point, at 3:30 p.m., presided by Pastor Herbert Percey.

Ray was born April 9, 1921, in Luders, Texas, and raised on a cotton farm in a Swedish community, and served in WWII. He married Helen Larson on Sept. 18, 1946, in Luders, and together they moved to Central Point. In 1948, he built a Self Service Laundry in Central Point from the purchase of Camp White Barracks. He also managed the Central Point Telephone Company, and retired from Boise Cascade in 1983. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and was a member of the Old Timer Car Club and Horseless Carriage. Ray loved to travel, snow mobile, going to social dances, and enjoyed a passion for life of anything that came his way.

Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Ekdahl; daughter, Sharon Ekdahl Stephenson; son, Kerry Ekdahl; grandchildren, Aaron Larson and Snowy Larson; and sister, Doris Spiller. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Central Point Senior Center.
