BUTTE FALLS — Up to this point, it has been a perfect season for the Prospect volleyball team.

Cougars coach Marci Gallagher isn't ready for that to change anytime soon, either.

After beating host Hosanna Christian 25-19, 25-22, 25-14 Saturday in the Mountain Valley League tournament, the Cougars will next take their spotless record to the regional playoffs in hopes of beginning a run at the Class 1A state title.

With a bye on Wednesday, Prospect (16-0, 12-0 MVL) will host a regional playoff match Saturday against a team to be determined. If they win, the Cougars will head to Pacific University for the state tournament.

"If we win on Saturday, we will make school history," said Gallagher. "We've been this far before, but we just have to continue to win.

"We're taking it one match at a time. One of our big things is to never give up a match on your home court. Hopefully we live by that rule next week."

The Cougars, who are 45-3 in MVL play over the last four years, claimed four of the six spots on the all-tournament team, including the most valuable player.

Becky Musard, who had 10 kills and four blocks, was named MVP, with Catherine Anderson, Jen King and Lindsey Verret also earning all-tournament honors for the Cougars.

Anderson led the attack at the service stripe, going 21-for-21 with five aces, and added 11 assists. King had five kills and four blocks, Verret had nine assists and a kill and Keirstyn Anderson chipped in four kills.

"They went in and were very focused tonight," said Gallagher of her team. "They came in and did their jobs and played very well as a team."

HENLEY 3, HIDDEN VALLEY 0 — At Murphy, Autumn Wedan racked up 17 kills for Henley, which coasted to a 25-10, 25-23, 25-20 nonleague victory over Hidden Valley.

Hornet setters Cori Wallace and Alycia Delassi combined for 29 assists — Wallace 18 and Delassi 11.
