A Gold Hill man who died when he drove his motorcycle off Tresham Lane and into a ditch near Highway 234 Saturday evening has been identified.

Troy M. Jackson, 65, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident between Gold Hill and Eagle Point, said Sgt. Mark Byrd of the Oregon State Police in a news release.

Police say they are looking for another motorcyclist who witnesses saw near the accident. That person drove off before police were able to talk to him or her.

An investigation is continuing into the cause of the accident. Jackson, who was wearing a helmet, was driving his 1996 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Tresham when his motorcycle left that road, traveled through a ditch, crossed onto Highway 234 near milepost 9 and came to a rest in another ditch. He was thrown from the bike.

Police ask the second motorcyclist to call them at the Oregon State Police Southern Oregon Regional Dispatch Center at 541-776-6111.
