ASHLAND — Two men are in jail after police seized 4.5 pounds of methamphetamine Thursday night during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 south of Ashland.

ASHLAND — Two men are in jail after police seized 4.5 pounds of methamphetamine Thursday night during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 south of Ashland.

Oregon State Police Sgt. David Beck stopped a northbound 2000 Chevrolet Suburban for speeding just before 9 p.m. at milepost 11.

OSP drug dog Cookie was called to the scene and sniffed out the methamphetamine wrapped and hidden in the SUV. OSP officials estimated the value of the methamphetamine was $50,000.

Arrested were driver Carlos Garcia Uribe, 39, and passenger Ignacio Bobadilla, 39, both from Antioch, Calif.

Both were lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of possession, distribution and manufacture of methamphetamine. They remained lodged today on $65,000 bail.
