Jewel P. Uhles



Jewel P. Uhles, 80, of Medford, Ore., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at her home in Medford. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, at — p.m. at Hope Christian Church in Central Point.



Jewel was born on July 4, 1928, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to parents, Helen O. (Kannoyer) Knauss and Robert C. Knauss. On Nov. 9, 1951, she married Harry "Bud" Uhles, who preceded her in death. She was a retired Director of Housekeeping at the Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital, and she loved line dancing and "boot scootin'," crafts and tole painting. She was active in the Medford Senior Center, Women's Ministry at White City Christian Church, and was a member of Hope Christian Church. Most importantly, she enjoyed all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.



She is survived by her son, Harry Uhles; her daughter, Judy Kay (Ross) Plaice; five sisters, Joyce Shaw, Jean Knauss, Joetta Wallace, Jane Ann Crenshaw, and Jeri Newberry; three brothers, Lee Knauss, Lisle Knauss, and Lynn Knaus; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Jewel was preceded in death by her son, Ron Ross; daughter, Linda (Uhles) Miller; sister, Janice Bye; and four brothers, Layton, Larry, Lonnie and Lloyd Knauss.
