Hillside building rules, a Wal-Mart expansion proposal and discussion about Medford's involvement in a regional planning process all come before the City Council today in two meetings.

The council meets at noon and 7 p.m. at the county courthouse auditorium, 10 S. Oakdale Ave. Both meetings are open to the public.

At the noon meeting, the council will discuss a proposal by Wal-Mart to expand its North Medford store by about 25,000 square feet.

At the 7 p.m. meeting, the body will consider its participation in the regional urban planning program, a process that began in 2000 and aims to involve cities around the region in planning for growth. It also will discuss special rules for developing on hillsides.

Documents describing all three issues are available online here.
