Gunnar and Mary Ann Johnson of Central Point, shown above on their first anniversary in 1959, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 10.

Gunnar Johnson married Mary Ann Tinsley on Nov. 10, 1958, in Minneapolis, Minn., while both were serving in the Marine Corps.

Mary Ann served from 1957 to 1963. Gunnar served from 1946 until he retired in 1968.

They then moved to Oregon and have lived in the same house in Jackson County for 40 years.

Gunnar completed his college education what is now Southern Oregon University. He was then a caseworker for Children's Services Division, victim and witness assistance coordinator for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, criminal justice planner for Rogue Valley Council of Governments and finally a family counselor at Star Gulch Child Care Center.

Mary Ann worked for the Jackson County Juvenile Department from 1968 until her retirement in 1988.

The Johnsons have two children, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
