Dustin Lippert caught two passes, one for a 34-yard touchdown and the other for an 11-yard score for Grant Union (13-0).

Travis Moore ran for 109 yards and both scores for Gold Beach (12-2), who were the defending Class 3A champions.

The last time Grant Union won a state title was in 1943.

The game was played at Hillsboro Stadium before 4,240 fans.

Class 5A

THURSTON 47, GLENCOE 21 — At Portland, Tym Pearson ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more to lead Thurston to a victory in the OSAA Class 5A semifinals.

Thurston, which has never advanced to the championship game, will face West Albany for the title next Saturday at Reser Stadium.

Pearson completed 10 of 14 passes for 191 yards, and ran for 118 yards in the victory at Portland's PGE Park. The No. 2 Colts scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win it.

Devin Anderson rushed for 144 yards and two more scores for Thursday.

Kyle Hogan rushed for 199 yards and a score for No. 7 Glencoe (10-4).

Top-ranked West Albany defeated Jefferson 38-14 earlier in the day to advance.

WEST ALBANY 38, JEFFERSON 14 — Portland, Anthony LaCoste ran for 194 yards and three touchdowns and West Albany earned its third straight trip to the title game with a 38-14 victory over Jefferson.

Reese completed 10 of 17 passes for 187 yards and two scores for the defending champions Bulldogs (13-0).

West Albany jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter of the game at PGE Park, and Jefferson (6-7) could not catch up.

Elisonoa Aluesi completed 12 of 18 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns for Jefferson. Tarrence Williams caught seven passes for 103 yards.

Class 2A

KNAPPA 20, CULVER 6 — At Hillsboro, Tevan Klauser caught a touchdown pass and ran for another to lead Knappa to the OSAA Class 2A football championship with a victory over Culver.

Bryan Sablan ran for 124 yards and a score for Knappa (12-1), which claimed its first-ever state title in the game at Hillsboro Stadium.

Nevin Lewis ran for 118 yards for Culver (11-2), which went into the game as the defending state champion.

Austin Alley's 1-yard run gave Culver an early lead, but the Bulldogs would not score again.

Klauser ran for 49 yards and a score and had two catches for 27 yards and another TD.

Class 1A

IMBLER 48, JOSEPH 36 — At Hillsboro, Dalton McDaniel threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns to lead Imbler to the OSAA Class 1A state football championship.

Nick West ran 86 yards for two touchdowns, and Zach Phillips had seven catches for 152 yards and a score for Imbler (11-1), last season's runner-up.

Imbler was without starting quarterback Bryan Mills, who broke his leg in the second quarter of the semifinal victory over Dufur.

Erik Steen passed for 79 yards and two scores — both to Gavin Baynes — for Joseph (11-2) in the game at Hillsboro Stadium.

Grant Marcum ran for 178 yards and a score.

Joseph led 36-28 at the break, but did not score in the second half.
