Mary-Lou Gettling



The funeral for Mary-Lou Gettling will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland. Friends and family are invited to a potluck lunch following the services. The location will be announced at the service.



Mrs. Gettling, 79, of Talent, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at the Linda Vista Care Center, Ashland. She was born May 4, 1929, in Long Beach, Calif., the daughter of Vergie and Edwin Hahn. She moved as an infant to Ashland in 1934 and graduated from Ashland High School in 1947. On Aug. 28, 1950, in Ashland, she married Marvin Leo "Bud" Gettling who survives. She graduated from Southern Oregon College with a teaching degree in 1964. In 2000 Mr. and Mrs. Gettling moved to Talent.



Mrs. Gettling enjoyed entertaining with family and friends, playing cards and slot machines, being in nature, and traveling. She was a master party planner and "Foodie" and known to be an instigator of Fun. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Buckles and Bows Square Dance and the Lords and Ladies. Surviving in addition to her husband are, daughter, Diana (Craig) Stone, of Phoenix, Ore.; son, Dan (Debbie) Gettling, of Klamath Falls, Ore.; three grandchildren, Lisa, Katie and Jeff.
