County commissioners will hear more from the public this afternoon about a controversial rest area/welcome center proposed for a site near Ashland.

A public hearing before the county's board of commissioners is at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the county courthouse, 10 S. Oakdale Ave., Medford. It is a continuation of a hearing started about two weeks ago.

The state wants to build the welcome center and rest area near Ashland's milepost 14, but residents of the area have worried that the center will bring noise to their neighborhood.
