Six poets read their poems and those of Oregon's late poet laureate, William Stafford, tonight in Ashland.

The reading begins at 7 p.m. in the Meese meeting room at Hannon Library at Southern Oregon University, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. It's free and open to the public.

Oregon Poet Laureate Lawson Inada, Angela Howe-Decker, Pepper Trail, Liz Robinson, Jonah Bornstein, and Dori Appel will take part in the reading, jointly sponsored by the Friends of William Stafford and Friends of Hannon Library.

After the poets read, members of the audience will be invited to read one of their favorite Stafford poems. Audience members who want to participate should bring copies of Stafford poems.
