Take a walk on the wild side of Southern Oregon during a hike offered by the Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center today.

Hikers will meet at 10 a.m. at Evo's Cafe, across from the library in Ashland, and at 10:30 a.m. at the Country Store in Ruch. They'll carpool to the trailhead.

The low-elevation, 5-mile hike follows the decommissioned Sterling Mine Ditch through ecosystems including pine oak savannah, old growth conifer forest, white oak woodland, riparian forest and chaparral.

The moderately strenuous trail offers sweeping views of the Little Applegate Valley and the Siskiyou Crest. The group will cancel the hike for severe weather.
